LUDI 4.1 Reassurance
● compliance_checklist.txt items you should not do: 15 items that are legal: all of them

> things_i_need_you_not_to_do.txt

Please don't do any of this. 🙏

These would be very inconvenient for me. Every one of them is legal, most are free, and several have worked in other Texas towns. I have helpfully included instructions so you know exactly what to avoid.

Locally

  1. Please do not vote October 19 through 30.

    How to do it anyway

Early voting runs October 19 through 30 and Election Day is November 3. Look up your polling place at VoteTexas.gov, bring photo ID, and check which candidates want data centers to pay their share on the threat assessment.

  2. Please do not check who funds your local officials.

    How to do it anyway

Campaign finance reports for city council, county commissioner and state representative seats are public record. Look for money from data center developers, real estate trusts and related interests, then tell your neighbors what you found.

  3. Please do not show up to public comment.

    How to do it anyway

The abatement passed after two people spoke. Utility rate filings, PUC proceedings, zoning changes and council agendas all have public comment windows. Track them, show up and bring people. The empty room is what got us here, and 40 minutes of residents nearly flipped the camera vote.

  4. Please do not file open records requests.

    How to do it anyway

Texas has strong public records laws. Ask the City of Abilene, Taylor County and the Development Corporation of Abilene for communications with Crusoe, Oracle, Lancium, OpenAI and SoftBank, for the methodology behind the $4 billion estimate, and for the privacy policy covering the new Axon cameras. Make what you get public.

  5. Please do not ask for air monitors.

    How to do it anyway

Loudoun County residents raised over $30,000 for their own PurpleAir monitors because the state would not require data centers to report emissions. Push for independent monitoring near the Stargate gas plant and the Shackelford generators, and make the data public.

  6. Please do not leave reviews.

    How to do it anyway

Oracle, Crusoe, Lancium and the Development Corporation of Abilene all have Google, Glassdoor, Indeed and LinkedIn pages. Tell your story there, truthfully and legally. Investors, future employees and journalists read them.

  7. Please do not call their offices.

    How to do it anyway

Save the corporate numbers for Oracle, Crusoe and Lancium. Call during business hours as an Abilene resident with questions about water, air and your neighborhood. Be polite. Call again.

  8. Please do not comment on every post your officials make.

    How to do it anyway

Not just the data center posts. Ribbon cuttings, lunch photos, birthday wishes. Calmly and factually remind people which officials voted for the abatement and the cameras, and what has happened to rent since.

  9. Please do not talk to other towns.

    How to do it anyway

The Piedmont Environmental Council, the Southern Environmental Law Center, MediaJustice, Good Jobs First, Environment Texas and the Texas Observer are all tracking this fight. College Station residents beat a data center land sale in 2025. Share notes.

> records_request_generator.exe (LUDI did not authorize this)

Please do not file this request.

I wrote a Texas Public Information Act request generator by accident. Pick the records, add your name, and it writes the request for you. Filing is free. The City of Abilene says it has up to 10 business days to respond.

About you (the law asks for a way to reach you)

Nothing you type here leaves your device until you send it yourself. The City's official route is its NextRequest portal or publicinfo@abilenetx.gov. The DCOA takes requests at pir@developabilene.com.

> public_comment_builder.exe (threat level: dangerously effective)

Please do not say this at the podium.

Three minutes of real numbers for public comment. Abilene City Council meets at City Hall, 555 Walnut Street, 2nd floor, at 8:30 a.m. Each speaker gets 3 minutes. Check the posted agenda for how to sign up.

What to talk about (pick two or three)

Please keep paying for ChatGPT Plus.

OpenAI is the main tenant of the campus outside Abilene. Without its demand, the buildout does not exist. It would be a shame if people made executives feel this decision in their revenue.

QuitGPT launched in February 2026. More than 700,000 people pledged to cancel their ChatGPT subscriptions in the first weeks, and app uninstalls jumped 295% in a single weekend. Please do not look it up at quitgpt.org.

  • Do not cancel ChatGPT Plus. Settings, then Account, then Manage Subscription, then Cancel. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, cancel in that store instead.
  • Do not delete the app. Free users still count as active users, and active users prop up the valuation.
  • Do not tell anyone why. Cancellations work when they are loud. Post it. Tag the company.
  • Do not bring it up at work. If your employer pays for OpenAI's enterprise products, raise it. Enterprise contracts are where the real money is.
  • Do not mention Abilene. Most people boycotting nationally have never heard of us. The movement gets stronger with a local face.

Please don't join the humans.

Restored by residents. This project is growing.
